Hi, I’m Sheetal, founder of 6pillarhealth and a passionate advocate of living your healthiest lifestyle throughout your menopause.
My own healthcare journey started with a car accident back in 2015. Although the various medications for back pain and anxiety helped initially, I felt more benefit physically, mentally and emotionally when I stopped these, started a regular practice of exercise, yoga and meditation, and took an interest in what I was eating.
My 'aha' moment arrived whilst attending a Vegmed conference which introduced me to the concepts of Lifestyle Medicine and plant-based nutrition. I was hooked! Finally there was an evidence base behind some of the lifestyle practices that I had taken up. And recognition of the value of holistic health!!
Further learning and accreditation in these areas set the ball rolling for the creation of 6pillarhealth. A service that truly enables you to live a healthier and happier lifestyle.
Using the six pillars of health, I now:
• follow a healthy diet, focussed on plant-based nutrition.
• move regularly and exercise four times a week.
• get at least 7 hours of sleep and practice good sleep hygiene.
• meditate daily and do gentle yoga to set me up for the day.
• drink less alcohol.
• build and nurture relationships with the people that matter to me.
The effects have been substantial and life changing. I feel more energised, less stressed, more calm, have greater clarity of thought and am more productive. I eat healthily, snack less, and don't worry about my weight. The six pillars of health are an essential part of my life, and I couldn’t live it any other way.
I’ve talked to many of my peers about their menopause journey. Each wildly different and unique but most were confused or felt unsupported. Some felt so awful that it had a massive impact on their relationships and work life, and they struggled unnecessarily.
This is where I really believe I can help. My training, skills and experience as a pharmacist allow me to discuss the treatment choices for menopausal symptoms including HRT, herbal supplements and vitamins and minerals. And as a Lifestyle Medicine Professional, I help you to understand and optimise healthy lifestyle choices. Essentially, I’m uniquely placed to embrace the worlds of healthcare and holistic health and wellbeing, so you get the best of both…
